When Will This End?

Well, according to Dr. Fauci, if the US can vaccinate up to 85% of adults, we can begin a return to normal by fall.
If the US were to administer 1 million shots per day (the rate required to meet President Biden's goal of 100 million shots by his first 100 days in office), it would take until the very end of 2021 to vaccinate only 75% of US adults. But don't worry, all hope is not lost.
This time frame would shrink if some people received one-dose vaccines. Fortunately for us, Johnson & Johnson produced a vaccine like this and is expected to report on Phase 3 clinical trials by the end of January. Simply put, we may have a one-dose vaccine soon!
In addition, Fauci believes that the US can go faster than 1 million shots a day. Now we just need to up public support of the vaccine so that as many people will get vaccinated as possible.
I am most worried about how many people are going to refuse to get the vaccine. Unfortunately, without 85% of people vaccinated, the US will not achieve herd immunity. We really need to listen, believe, and work together on this in order to get there. I know personally that I will be getting the vaccine as soon as possible and I will be telling everyone around me to get theirs as well.
I watched a press conference that Dr. Fauci was on yesterday (for the first time in a while_, and I think that was the first time I've ever seen him smile (see cover photo). I'm glad that he's back out there where he belongs.
Well, hopefully that was a bit of good news to brighten your Friday! Have a great weekend!
I am looking forward to hearing Fauci speak on Thursday at 3:00!
