What is GOYA and why is the President doing ads for it?

CNN Anchor Chris Cuomo called out Donald Trump, his adviser, and daughter Ivanka Trump for strangely advertising for GOYA products as COVID-19 cases surge in the United States. He said what many of us were thinking: "You tell me how a President in the middle of a pandemic has got time for this bullshit? Are you kidding me? Hawking products? Goya, I don't care who it is." And this: "On your dime, in the middle of a pandemic, they're selling beans. Are you kidding me? Seriously? Seriously. This is not left and right. This is reasonable, my brothers and sisters. The guy is sitting on the Resolute desk with a bunch of Goya products. Proof positive of why we need many Faucis, but we only have one."
The story gets weird. Let's unpack.
On Tuesday, Ivanka Trump posted a photo on her Twitter account posing with a can of GOYA black beans. On Wednesday, Trump posted a photo on Instagram of a plethora of GOYA products displayed on the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office. These posts are assumed to be in response to a social media boycott of GOYA after CEO Robert Unanue praised Trump in the Rose Garden in the White House last week.
No other explanation. No caption on Trump's Instagram post. A strange caption on Ivanka's tweet that is in both English and Spanish. Many believe that this post violates at least a few laws. I found this on the Electronic Code of Federal Regulations.
§ 2635.702 Use of public office for private gain.
"An employee shall not use his public office for his own private gain, for the endorsement of any product, service or enterprise, or for the private gain of friends, relatives, or persons with whom the employee is affiliated in a nongovernmental capacity..."
These photos are kind of funny in their randomness. I will put Ivanka's tweet below and Trump's Instagram post as the cover photo. But in all reality, Chris Cuomo is right. Instead of endorsing black beans, he should be worried more about the state of his country. The United States is not doing well, and a leader that refuses to acknowledge that contributes to the attitude that caused this surge. Please. I want to go to school at least a few times before I graduate.
