Joe Biden's campaign is stopping the travel of Kamala Harris until Monday after a flight crew member and Harris' communications director, Liz Allen, tested positive for COVID-19.
Harris was not in close contact with either person, but her trip to North Carolina on Thursday was canceled and she will remain off the road until Monday. In addition, neither of the people who have tested positive have had contact with Biden, Harris, or any other staffers since testing positive or in the 48 hours prior to the positive test.
Harris has taken two PCR tests for COVID-19 since October 8th, including a test on Wednesday, and tested negative both times. The two people were with Harris on a flight on October 8, the day after the Vice Presidential debate, but during the flight, everyone wore N95 masks and were not within 6 feet for more than 15 minutes with either of them. After the flight, both Allen and the flight crew member tested negative, which points towards them contracting virus at a later time. The Biden campaign has also begun the process of contract tracing.
All of these updates are a stark contrast with how Trump's administration have handled positive coronavirus tests from Trump and his team. In fact, Trump's White House still has not disclosed when Trump last tested negative for the coronavirus.
I really hope that Senator Harris stays well and that the people that have contracted the virus get better soon. I would like to point out once again the large difference in social distancing and mask wearing procedures between the two campaigns; differences that will make all the difference in the development of this story versus Hope Hicks' story.
