Our Voices are Being Heard!

This news makes me very happy, as I initially started this blog to give more of an insight into how students were feeling about this pandemic and how it has impacted our lives. While this news does not center around high schoolers' voices, I think that hearing first hand from any type of student is a good thing.
Democrats have found a new strategy to target holes in the Trump administration's approach to the coronavirus: give college students the mic.
A handful of students' stories were shared at events organized by Democrats in key swing states such as Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ohio.
"I want to go to a game again; I want to be able to hang out with my friends again. And I want to attend classes and go to the library like normal again. But none of that can happen until we elect Biden and Harris this November. Cases are starting to pop up and unfortunately it will only get worse under Trump's weak and divisive leadership. The onus should not be on college students to solve this crisis on their own campus, it should be on the president to address the pandemic that is facing and killing thousands of Americans." college student Cecelia McDermott said during a press conference held virtually by the Wisconsin Democratic Party on Friday morning. Her college has had 365 students test positive thus far.
Economic uncertainty was also brought up by college students: "While working hard to get through college, the job market is plummeting and it's unknown whether myself or my colleagues will be able to hold on to or get jobs after graduating in the next few years," said Brady Coulthard, a student and chair of the College Democrats at Wisconsin Lutheran College.
At each one of these events, the resounding message was the same: We must reelect Biden if we wish to return to any semblance of normalcy at school. Trump is to blame for mishandling this pandemic, and he is the reason why we are seeing so many outbreaks on college campuses. He is the one that let COVID-19 get to a point that ruined our traditional college experience, harmed our future job prospects, and canceled our sports games.
These events seem to come in response to schools like the University of North Carolina and James Madison University in Virginia canceling in-person classes due to the rapid spread of the virus on campus.
