I Can't Believe This

I missed writing a post yesterday because I, alongside many of my other friends, cried for most of yesterday. Amy Coney Barrett was officially confirmed to the Supreme Court, 8 days before the election.
Read that again.
8 days before the election.
4 years ago, when Obama wished to confirm his Supreme Court pick with almost A YEAR left in his term, Mitch McConnell said that the American people deserved to have a voice in the makeup of the Supreme Court. That precedent was obviously not upheld in this case, and the hypocrisy makes me sick.
Trump couldn't care less about the American people's voice; he has proved that time and time again.
But now that it's happened, what does that actually mean for the American people? How will Amy Coney Barrett's addition to the Supreme Court affect us?
Well, this means that the Supreme Court now has a 6-3 conservative majority. The Court has not been this conservative since the 1930's.
THE 1930's.
The big issue on all of our minds is how a Justice Barrett will rule. However, that question has already been answered by how fast her confirmation process was. By showing their drive to get her on the court, Republicans have all but said how she will be ruling. She will be siding with their values.
Here's a run down on what the court looks like now:
The court now has 5 justices who are more conservative on voting rights than the man who nearly got rid of the Voting Rights Act less than a decade ago. And y'all better believe that if Biden wins in anything but a landslide victory, the Court will be trying some sort of election fraud case that they will rule in Trump's favor.
Amy Coney Barrett has also said that she agrees with the way that Justice Antonin Scalia used to interpret the constitution. Therefore, as he dissented against same-sex marriage, she would also likely dissent against gay marriage.
According to 538 (a website that analyzes statistics to come to conclusions), Barrett's rulings are likely to rank somewhere near Justice Samuel Alito. In this scenario, Justice BRETT KAVANAUGH would replace Roberts as the new MEDIAN justice.
The new Supreme Court is poised to hear a case that could overturn the entire Affordable Care Act and a case involving Mississippi's 15-week abortion ban. She has previously states that "life begins at conception." Let's see what happens, but I think I know.
Oh, also fun news: the Republican Party is planning on holding a celebration party for her confirmation. I wonder if it'll be another super spreader event! :)
One last thing that you should keep in mind: she has served as a judge for less than three years, and has never tried a case before the Supreme Court. Is she experienced enough to be a judge for the Supreme Court?
I am sick at the state of the United States right now. We can do better, I know it. We just need to vote.
