Goodbye International Students :(

Trump's administration has banned international students who attend college in the United States on visas from staying in the country if their school's classes are entirely online during the fall semester.
This is tough on colleges as they have to now make the decision to either reopen their schools to in-person learning despite the increasing numbers of coronavirus cases or face losing international students and their tuition. US Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced the changes to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program for non-immigrant sudents on F-1 and M-1 visas for academic and vocational course work. The State Department will not be issuing visas to students in online-only programs and Customs and Border Protection will not allow these students to enter the United States.
Due to this new rule, international students will have to either leave the US or transfer to a school with some in-person learning. ICE says that failure to comply with these regulations could result in removal. This statement also says that students at schools with hybrid models will be allowed to take more than one class or three credit hours online, but cannot take all courses online.
Harvard also announced today that all classes will be online for the fall semester, although they are still planning on bringing up to 40% of undergraduate students back to campus. Princeton also unveiled its reopening plans today and said the majority of its instruction will be online.
I am concerned about the international student news that the Trump administration has unveiled. I feel as if we should especially be easy on these students as we all face this pandemic as a united country, although I feel as if wherever they came from is most likely doing a much better job at mitigating the spread of this virus than we are. I will keep you updated if anything new emerges. Have a great rest of your Monday!
