Fire Season!

In Sonoma County, fire season usually starts in October. However, as 2020 has a habit of making situations worse, of course this year, our fire season started in June. Thankfully, no big fires were created and everything was put out rather fast. However, last night's dry lightning coupled with yesterday's temperature of 102 degrees and winds up to like 60 mph did not make it a good last night for many in the Bay Area. In many ways, it reminded me of the weather we had right before the big fire in 2017, and that was the scariest part.
I woke up at about 4:30 to light flashing outside my window and loud thunder. I think that lasted for about an hour until 5:30. Fortunately, it started drizzling at 4:50, which probably helped the firefighters put out any large vegetation fires. I have heard news of the lightning sparking 8 fires in the Bay Area, although I am not sure the current status of those fires. The bad news is that we are going to have a somewhat hot rest of the week, with a high on Tuesday of 100. Hopefully, winds do not pick up again.
I think that the most tragically hilarious thing that could happen during all of this is that our power goes out like it did last year. That way we would not even be able to attend online school due to another disaster. I want to laugh at that but I think it's too soon to laugh about what a mess 2020 has been. I'll try again in 2021.
Anyways, I'm so glad that we now need to be worried about fires again in the midst of a global pandemic. I really love that for us.
