Essay Season Begins!

UC and Common App applications opened on August 1st, and with this came the stress of college essays. 350 or 650 word essays that could make or break your acceptance into your dream school. It sounds pretty stressful, right?

Trying to apply to colleges during a pandemic can be even more stressful than normal college application times. However, we have to stay positive and not let stress overcome us. On the bright side, most colleges have relaxed their standardized testing rules, so we do not have to stress as much about that. But still, make sure to take some time for yourself when you feel yourself become too freaked out, and most importantly take things one at a time.

Here is a list of things you can do when you need to take a break from all the essays and activity lists:

1) Have a snack!

2) Dance! Put on music and dance in your room.

3) Sing! Sing badly, try your hardest, whatever works.

4) Cry. When your stress builds up and you need to do something, sometimes the best release is to cry and then keep moving on.

5) Watch an episode of your favorite Netflix show.

6) Have a fashion show!

7) Have fun on TikTok! (and then cry because Trump signed an order banning it in 45 days)

8) Ask someone else for help. If you feel like you really need help and cannot do it by yourself, there is no harm in asking someone else for help.

The moral of the story is that while college apps are a stressful time, we cannot let them take over our lives. Everything will work itself out the way it is supposed to. Have a great weekend guys!
