College App Season

Well, folks, it's almost Thanksgiving break and with that comes some important college app deadlines. UC's are due November 30th, and CSU's are due December 4th. Having finished my UC's, here are some overall tips for trying to get those applications done on time.
1) When describing activities, make a list instead of complete sentences and only hit the high points. With those activities, every character counts, and you shouldn't be wasting your time with too many The's or And's.
2) Obtain your most current transcript from your counselor and have them email it to you. Then you can go split screen and easily just copy the info from there onto your classes.
3) If applying to UCSD, they will ask for preference of which "house" you want to be sorted into. There are differences between them. Most importantly, they all have different General Education requirements. Research each one to make sure you find a good fit - link is right underneath this.
4) The UC's are now all test blind. That means that they will not be looking at anyone's test scores, whether or not you submitted them. Keep this in mind if you are trying to figure out where to send scores. (They will only potentially look at scores as a way to determine your eligibility for the California statewide admissions guarantee, as an alternative method of fulfilling minimum requirements for eligibility or for course placement after you enroll.)
5) Ask your family about the Scholarship questions. There are some really really strange options on there, and I would never have known that I had an ancestor that was a freemason if I had not asked my dad to look over the options.
And lastly....
6) As my mom always says, "If you don't apply, you'll never get in." If there is a school that you feel like you won't get into, give yourself the benefit of the doubt and apply anyways. If you don't apply, your chance of getting in is exactly 0.
The Santa Rosa City Schools school board is having a meeting tonight. Here is the link to the Santa Rosa City Schools website where the link for tonight's meeting will be posted 15 minutes before it begins. They will be discussing changes to the Return to School Plan, so it's very important that we should attend. Like my math teacher always says, they will always listen to students and it's important that we get our voices heard.
