Are 99% of Coronavirus Cases "Harmless"?

The short answer is no, that is not correct. Donald Trump made a statement addressing a crowd in Washington that 99% of COVID-19 cases are harmless. The Food and Drug Administration Commissioner is refusing to back up this claim, instead saying that he is "not going to get into who is right and who is wrong." He also stated that the data shows that "this is a serious problem."

The World Health Organization has actually said that 20% of coronavirus cases progress to severe disease, including pneumonia and respiratory failure. In addition to this, even those with little or no symptoms have the ability to spread the disease to those in the 20% that could develop severe symptoms.

The mayor of Austin, Texas (where there are a plethora of cases) called Trump's remarks "dangerous" and "wrong." Mayor Steve Adler urged people to listen to local safety officials for updates instead of the "ambiguous message coming out of Washington."

In this time of a pandemic, do not get your advice from Trump, I am begging you. He is not a good role model and full of fake information.

In addition, I would like to add that we will be seeing the repercussions of Fourth of July celebrations in about a week, as most people develop symptoms about 5-6 days after infection. Add another day on for testing and results, and you have a week. I'll keep y'all updated.

Have a great week everyone and here is a Harry Styles GIF to brighten your day!
