Another Stay-At-Home Order?

For those in California, I'm sure that you all remember how we were placed under a restrictive stay-at-home order in March. My family only made trips outside for groceries once every two weeks, but other than that, we didn't really leave the house. It was a miserable time.

Well, it is very possibly going to happen again. At Newsom's press conference on Monday, he referenced the possibility of stay-at-home orders being released sometime this week. As of current, he still hasn't released these orders, but Los Angeles has decided to take things into their own hands. Last night, the city of LA issued a modified stay-at-home order that prohibits gatherings of people outside immediate households (with some exceptions for protests and religious services). It also allows retail businesses, parks, trails, golf courses, tennis courts, and beaches to stay open.

While this order is less restrictive than the one in March, the message is still the same: Hunker down. Cases are accelerating rapidly in California and if we do not take this seriously, soon our hospitals will be extremely overwhelmed.

I would watch for statewide stay-at-home orders to be dropped sometime today or tomorrow. I know that Newsom said it wasn't set in stone yet, but often if a politician "floats" an idea in a press conference, it's usually already in the works. I know that it's not the news that any of us want to hear right now, but I believe that it truly is the best option for our situation right now. All we can do is find the silver lining in it and keep thinking about the vaccine, even if we feel like this Santa.
