A Fourth Surge?

Will there be a fourth surge in the United States? Unfortunately, probably yes.
Will there be a fourth surge in California, and closer to us, Sonoma County itself? Fortunately, probably not.
Currently, case loads in the Northeast and the Midwest are going up by a lot (30% and 58% respectively). The West is only increasing by 5% (Sonoma County is still at a decrease), while the South actually has decreasing case numbers.
Epidemiologists believe that this new surge was brought on by the new COVID-19 variant from Britain. They also feel that this surge won't be as debilitating to the United States as more and more people are getting vaccinated. But, there is still a risk.
There is still worry that those in high risk groups are still not getting vaccinated. This is still highly dangerous, as the virus can still spread in those groups if they refuse to get vaccinated. It only takes a few infections to cause serious problems. There is also a chance that this surge is severe, as we see it wreaking havoc in Michigan with an increase in case numbers of 125%.
Experts are predicting that this new surge will most likely end by May or June. It will end only if people continue to get vaccinated and mask up in large groups. These things remain the most important guidelines to follow as we see the end of the pandemic ahead. I know that it's close, but masking and vaccinating will help us get there.
Have a great Monday!
