Voco is what I am dubbing virtual homecoming. A day ago today was a year since homecoming. I am then reminded of what we're missing this year, as my school has decided to not hold any sort of homecoming. (I totally get it - it's the safe decision.)
Now, for me personally, the dressing up and hanging out with friends beforehand is the best part of homecoming. So, how can I simulate that for this year?
I'll dress up and subject my family to awful music for an hour. We'll take bad pictures and I'll make fun of my dad for not being able to work his Nikon.
I think that anything we can do during this quarantine that's considered "normal" is something good. It will allow us to perhaps forget about everything else for at least an hour and focus on what should be happening right now.
So dress up. Listen to bad music. Do interpretive dance in your room. I don't care - it's your homecoming. Do whatever you want with it.
In worse news, there is a confirmed case of the coronavirus at Montgomery High School (from one of the staff members). Therefore, our campus is closed for the next 3 days for cleaning and no one is allowed on. Students aren't allowed to pick up books from the library or receive their ID cards.
Sonoma County is also the only Bay Area county in the most restrictive coronavirus tier (the purple tier). So, that's the bad news.
I am attempting to construct a good/bad news sandwich though, so I will leave you with something happy to think about for the rest of the day. Halloween is coming in a week and a half! Start planning those costumes so you can pick up candy at random points around your backyard and pretend that it's actually candy from around the neighborhood.
Hey, I gotta work with what I got.
